Elgin has over fifteen years of experience in the fields of computer security, network security, and object-oriented systems. Most recently, he has performed technical analysis in support of patent litigation and patent interference proceedings.

Prior to Precedia, Elgin was a technical director at SPYRUS and was responsible for Internet security products and enterprise smart card application products. Elgin previously held engineering management and development positions at Terisa Systems and ParcPlace Systems. Elgin holds Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Engineer degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
